For the last decade Dr. Giblin served as the Director of the Quantitative Reasoning Center at the US Air Force Academy’s Academic Success Center. He has also served on the Department of Physics faculty, where he has taught introductory and advanced levels of physics, calculus, astrophysics, and space physics, while mentoring cadets in undergraduate research. His active research interests include high energy astrophysical transients, exoplanets, solar & space physics, space situational awareness, and space systems technology.

He earned a BS in Astrophysics an MS in Physics from the University of Missouri St. Louis. In 2000, he earned a PhD in High Energy Astrophysics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. In 2010, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Missouri St. Louis.

From 1995-2000 he worked as a support scientist for one of NASA’s most successful orbiting scientific missions, the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory. Dr. Giblin has also served on the physics faculty at the College of Charleston, the University of North Carolina Asheville, and the University of Houston Clear Lake.

From 2008-2013 Dr. Giblin instructed astronauts, flight controllers, and flight directors at NASA Johnson Space Center as an avionics and communications system subject matter expert for the International Space Station.
